शेख चिल्ली का परिचय :

शेख चिल्ली मुग़ल शहज़ादे दारा शिकोह (1650) के गुरु थे।  शाहजहां खुद उनका बहुत सम्मान करते थे।  बताया जाता है कि मुग़ल बादशाह शाहजहां का बेटा दारा शिकोह शेख चिल्ली का बड़ा प्रशंसक था।  उसने उनसे कई महत्वपूर्ण बातें सीखी। उन्हें अब्दुर्रहीम, अलैस अब्दुर्रकारीम, अलैस अब्दुर्रज्जाक के नाम से भी जाना जाता था। उस समय के लोग मानते थे कि वो महान दरवेश हैं।  उनके नाम पर बनाया मकबरा हरियाणा के कुरुक्षेत्र के थानेश्वर में है।

शेख चिल्ली का जन्म स्थान :

ऐसा माना जाता है कि शेख चिल्ली का जन्म बलूचिस्तान के खानाबदोश कबीले में हुआ था। वो लगातार घुमक्क्ड़ी करते थे उनकी यही घुमक्कड़ी उन्हें भारत ले आयी। वैसे तो शेख चिल्ली ऐसी कहानियों क नायक हैं, 

जो आम लोक-जीवन के संघर्षों से बार बार उबरता है बार बार उन्ही संघर्षों में जुट जाता है।

शेख चिल्ली की विशेषता :

अपनी बातों से ही लोगों को मन्त्रमुग्ध कर देते थे

दरअसल शेख चिल्ली भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप में एक रोचक चरित्र के रूप में बच्चों के बीच बहुत लोकप्रिय है। उनके बारे में इतनी कहानियां शायद इसलिए बनी और गढ़ी गयी, क्योंकि वो कभी न तो व्यावहारिक की परवाह करते थे और ना ही दिखावे में रहते थे; बल्कि वो अपनी बातों से ही लोगों को मुग्ध कर देते थे। उनके बारे में ये भी कहा जाता है की वो दिन में सपने देखते थे। बाद में उनकी इसी आदत ने उन्हें एक लोकप्रिय कॉमिक करैक्टर बना दिया।

शेख चिल्ली का मकबरा :

बेहद खूबसूरत है उनका मक़बरा 

शेख चिल्ली का मकबरा कुरुक्षेत्र के बाहरी छेत्र में एक ऊँचे टीले पर बनाया गया है। ये बेहद ही खूबसूरत है जो मुग़ल वास्तुकला का बखूबी बखान करता है। इस मकबरे को बनाने में बलुआ पत्थरों का इस्तेमाल किया गया है। यह मकबरा परिपत्र ड्रम के आकार का है जहाँ कि मकबरे का गुम्बद नाशपाती के आकार का है।

महान संत की कब्र मकबरे के निचले सदन में बिलकुल केंद्र में स्थित है। इस मकबरे के ठीक बगल में संत की पत्नी की भी कब्र है; जिसका निर्माण सैंड स्टोन से किया गया है। देखने में ये मकबरा कुछ हद तक आगरा के ताजमहल से मिलता जुलता है। भारतीय पुरातत्व सर्वेक्षण द्वारा दोनों ही इमारतों को संरक्षित इमारतों का दर्जा दिया जा चुका है।

कैसे नाम पड़ा शेख चिल्ली :

शेख चिल्ली के बारे में यही कहा जाता है कि उनका जन्म किसी गाओं में गरीब शेख परिवार में हुआ था।  पिता बचपन में ही गुजर गये थे, माँ ने पाल पोस कर बड़ा किया।  माँ सोंचती थी कि एक दिन बेटा बड़ा होकर कमाएगा तो गरीबी दूर होगी। 

उसने बेटे को पढ़ने के लिए मदरसे में दाखिला दिला दिया।  सब बच्चे उसे शेख कहा करते थे।  मौलवी साहब ने उसे पढ़ाया, लड़का है तो 'खाता' है लड़की है तो 'खाती' है, जैसे रहमान जा 'रहा' है और रजिया जा 'रही' है। 

एक बार की बात है कि एक लड़की कुएँ में गिर पड़ी, वह मदद के लिए चिल्ला रही थी, शेख की नजर उस लड़की पर पड़ी शेख दौड़कर साथियों के पास आया और जोर जोर से बोलने लगा कि वह मदद के लिए चिल्ली रही है, पहले तो लड़के समझ नहीं पाए फिर शेख उन्हें कुएँ के पास लेकर गया उन सबने मिलकर लड़की को बाहर निकाला, वह रो रही थी।

 

शेख बार बार बोला  - 'देखो कैसे चिल्ली रही है, ठीक हो जाएगी। 

किसी ने पूछा - 'शेख तू बार बार इसे चिल्ली चिल्ली क्यों कर रहा है ?

शेख बोला - लड़की है तो 'चिल्ली ही तो कहेंगे, लड़का होता तो चिल्ला कहते। 

लड़कों ने शेख की मूर्खता समझ ली और उसे "चिल्ली चिल्ली" कहकर चिढ़ाने लगे। 

नाम मिला शेख चिल्ली 

उसका तो फिर नाम ही 'शेख चिल्ली' हो गया।
असल बात फिर भी शेख चिल्ली की समझ में न आई; और न ही उसने नाम बदलने का बुरा माना।

Sheikh Chilli

Introduction:

Sheikh Chilli was the mentor of Mughal Prince Dara Shikoh(1650). Shahjahan himself respected him very much. It is said that Mughal Emperor ShahJahan's Son Dara Shikoh was a admirer of Sheikh Chilli. He had learnt many important things from him. He was also known as Abd-ur-Rahim alias Abd-ur-Karim alias Abd-ur-Rajjak. Many people consider him as a great 'Darwesh'. There is a Sheikh Chilli's Tomb located in Thaneshwar Haryana, India in Kurukshetra.

Birth Place of Sheikh Chilli: 

It is believed that Sheikh Chilli was born in the nomadic clan of Balochistan, He used to roam here and there constantly, this same stroller brought him to INDIA. By the way Sheikh Chilli is the HERO of such stories, one who recovers from the struggles of common folk life and repeatedly gets involved in same struggles.

Actually Sheikh Chilli is a very famous among children as an interesting character in the subcontinent of INDIA. Perhaps so many stories of him were created and fabricated, because he never cared about the laws of nature. He built castles in the air and in his imaginations; he established great businesses, empires, became a prince married with a princess and in the end of the story his castle in the air vanished and Sheikh Chilli found himself surrounded by the people laughing at him. He was considered as a Day-Dreamer and eventually became a comic character for the children.

Tomb Of Sheikh Chilli:

His Tomb is very beautiful

Sheikh Chilli's tomb was built on a high mound in the outer area of Kurukshetra. It is very beautiful which speaks very well about Mughal Architecture. Sandstone has been used to build this mausoleum; this mausoleum is in the shape of a circular drum; where the dome of the mausoleum is pear-shaped.

The grave of the great Saint is situated in the center of the lower house of the tomb, just next to this tomb there is a grave of Saint's wife too which is made up of Sand-Stone. This tomb is somewhat similar to the Taj Mahal in Agra, INDIA. Both of the buildings have been given the status of  protected buildings by the Archaeological Survey of India

How Sheikh Chilli was named:

It is said about Sheikh that he was born in a poor sheikh family in some village. His father passed away in his childhood and his mother raised him. His mother thought that one day his Son will grow up and earn money so that they can be free from this poverty.

She got his son enrolled in a Seminary to study. All the children used to call him Sheikh there. Cleric taught him that if there is a Boy we'll say 'He is going', and if there is a Girl we will say 'She is going';  just as Rahman is going (in Masculin Gender) and Razia is going (in Feminine Gender).

Once upon a time a girl fell into a well, she was screaming for help, Sheikh's eyesight ran over the drowning girl; he came to his companions and started speaking loudly that she was crying(Chilli i.e. feminine) for help; the boys could not understand then Sheikh took them to the well and together they took out the girl, she was crying.

Sheikh was saying repeatedly: See how is she crying(Chilli i.e. feminine), she'll be alright.

Someone asked shockingly: Sheikh why are you doing this chilli chilli repeatedly.

Sheikh said: As per the Teacher if there is a boy we will say 'he is crying'(chilla i.e. Masculine) and if there is a girl then we will obviously say 'she is crying'(chilli i.e. Feminine) 

Now the boys understood the stupidity and foolishness of Sheikh and started teasing him by calling "Chilli-Chilli"

Now finally his name became Sheikh Chilli, but the real thing was still not understood by Sheikh Chilli nor did he mind changing the name.
